EWING, N.J. – The No. 7/10 TCNJ women's soccer team topped York College (Pa.) on Monday night by a final score of 1-0. The Lions improved to 7-1 on the year, while the Spartans fell to 2-6. The win also marked the fourth straight for TCNJ.
Neither side was able to break through in the first half, and the game remained scoreless through halftime.
Ava Garay let one rip for TCNJ, yet was stopped by the Spartan keeper in the 43
rd minute. TCNJ out-shot York 11-0 in the first half, and held a 3-0 edge on corner kicks.
The Lions broke through in the 58
th minute.
Randi Smith made a nice move to get around the York defender inside of the box on the right side. She sent a low centering pass to the middle.
Alexandra Ryan filled an open space and punched it inside of the left post to get the Lions on the board. The goal marked the first of her collegiate career.
The remainder of the game, the stingy TCNJ defensive unit did not allow York to get off any shots.

TCNJ dominated the possession time, as they controlled the ball 75% of the match. The Lions racked up 25 shots to the Spartans zero on the evening.

The Lions returns to the pitch Saturday, Sept. 28 for a conference game against Ramapo College. Game time in Lions Stadium is set for 1:00 p.m.
