UNION, N.J. – The College of New Jersey women's tennis team secured a fourth straight dual victory to open the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Kean University 9-0. For the Lions (4-0, 4-0 NJAC), it is a fourth consecutive sweep to begin the year. The match was the season opener for the Cougars.
TCNJ did not drop a single game in doubles play.
Liya Davidov and
Katrine Luddy combined for the win at number one. On court two,
Alexa Vasile and
Charlotte Roarty combined for the victory. At number three,
Jenny Landells and
Anusha Rangu paired for a win.
Vasile, Luddy,
Julia Yoon,
Ariella Shlugleyt, and
Navya Yemula all won in singles play without dropping any games. Davidov won 6-0, 6-1 at number one.
The Lions also competed in the Fall Kickoff Tournament Saturday. TCNJ won all four doubles matches they contested against Franklin & Marshall College. The squad also won a pair of matches against pairings from New York University.
Amy Yan and
Ally Yan won a pair of doubles matches in tournament play.
On the season, TCNJ athletes have produced a 56-4 combined record thus far this season.
The Lions return to action with day two of the Fall Kickoff Tournament tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m.
