No. 16 Men's Swimming and Diving Tops Field at Kumpf Invite

TROY, N.Y. –
The College of New Jersey men's swimming and diving team topped the field at the Kumpf Invitational hosted by RPI Saturday. The 16th-ranked Lions scored 584 points, 13 ahead of second place RPI. TCNJ also went 4-0 in dual meet scoring, topping RPI 134-107, defeating SUNY Cortland 188-43, beating Ithaca College 158-83, and topping Skidmore 192-37. The Lions improved to 8-0 on the season.
 
The Lions opened the meet with a second place swim in the 400-Medley relay. Derek Kneisel, Patrick Sullivan, Sean Rave, and Dixon Kahler combined to stop the clock at 3:33.75.
 
TCNJ followed with a dominant performance in the 1,000-Free. Griff Morgan, Conrad Hoody, and Mathias Altman-Kurosaki swam one-two-three with times of 9:59.98, 10:03.11, and 10:04.12. Harrison Yi and Kahler followed with a one-two performance in the 200-Free, stopping the clock in 1:44.41 and 1:45.51.
 
Pat Bakey swam second in the 50-Free with a time of 22.10. Andrew Thompson had the first winning swim of his impressive day in the 200-IM. He won the event in 1:56.22.
 
Out of the first break, Morgan swam second in the 200-Fly. He touched the wall at 1:54.44. Yi won his second event of the day with a 47.88 swim in the 100-Free.
 
TCNJ was again dominant in the 200-Back. Thompson won the event with a time of 1:53.92. Kneisel was second at 1:57.85. Rave finished third in 1:57.92. Morgan won the 500-Free, swimming 4:52.46.
 
Out of the second break, Patrick Sullivan was fifth in the 200-Breast going 2:17.50.
 
The Lions ended the day with a victory in the 400-Free. Thompson, David Madigan, Nolan Kuscan, and Yi combined for a time of 3:12.31.
 
In the diving well, Jay Soukup scored 240.00 on the 3-meter to finish third. He also finished third in the 1-Meter with a score of 235.60.
 
The Lions return home for a match-up of conference unbeatens against Rowan Jan. 25 at 2 p.m.
