EWING, N.J. –
The College of New Jersey men's swimming and diving team fought Rowan University to the final race Saturday afternoon, but ultimately fell 161-139. The 16th-ranked Lions fall to 8-1 on the season, and 2-1 in NJAC meets. The 14th-ranked Profs improve to 6-2 overall and close out the conference season 4-0.

The Lions opened the match with an upset victory in the 200-Medley relay. Sean Rave, Andrew Duff, Andrew Thompson, and Griffin Morgan combined to edge the Profs by .11 with a final time of 1:32.94. Mathias Altman-Kurosaki was out-touched in the 1,000-Free by .6, going second in 9:57.28.

Harrison Yi countered for the Lions with a win in the 200-Free with a time of 1:44.12. Rave was second in the 100-Back with a time of 51.87. Duff went 58.75, followed by Patrick Sullivan with a 59.18 for a two-three finish in the 100-Breast.

Thompson was the top Lion in the 50-Free, going third in 21.53. In the diving well, Jay Soukup was second in the 3-Meter with a score of 271.20.

Out of the break, Yi was second in the 100-Free with a time of 47.88. Thompson and Rave went two-three in the 200-Back with times of 1:54.00 and 1:55.64. Patrick Sullivan was third in the 200-Breast with a time of 2:15.83.

Morgan then began the Lions furious comeback with a 4:49.72 winning swim in the 500-Free. Thompson immediately followed with a win in the 100-Fly. Soukup topped the 1-Meter with a score of 259.60.

The Lions had a sliver of hope coming out of the final break, but despite Morgan's winning time of 1:57.91 in the 200-IM, the Profs two-three-four finish clinched the meet. The Profs win in the 400-Free relay to close out the match simply extended the lead.

The Lions close out the regular season with a trip to William Paterson on Feb. 1 at 1 p.m.
