WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The College of New Jersey wrestling team continued to prove why it is one of the nation's premier teams Sunday going 3-0 at the John Reese Duals. The seventh-ranked Lions opened the day with a 42-7 win over Scranton. The Lions then dominated SUNY Oneonta 44-3. The squad ended the day with a 24-18 victory over 19
th-ranked RIT.

The day was headlined by
Dan Kilroy. The senior went 3-0 on the day with a pair of pins. The two pins gave him 50 for his career, moving him past Mike Denver for the most pins in program history since pins were constantly tracked beginning with the 1996-97 season.

Dan Ortega got the Lions off to a strong start against Scranton. Ortega earned a 16-1 technical fall to put TCNJ up 5-0. At 133,
Jake Giordano got a second straight technical fall for the Lions after jumping out to a 16-0 lead.

Following a Scranton forfeit at 141,
Anthony Gagliano went up 16-1 to give TCNJ another technical fall and 21-0 lead.
Matt Surich won by decision at 157.

After a Scranton victory at 165, Kilroy needed just 1:10 to pin his first opponent of the day.
Kal-El Corbitt and
Quinn Haddad followed Kilroy's lead, earning pins in 4:15 and 5:15 that gave the Lions a 42-4 lead. Scranton earned a victory at heavyweight to produce the final score.

Ortega and Giordano started the Lions match against SUNY Oneonta the same as dual one. Both took 16-1 leads in the second period.

Robert Dinger earned a tight 3-1 win followed by an 11-7 win by Gagliano. The Lions received a forfeit at 157.

Alfonso Pinto Jr. flattened his opponent midway through the second period to set up Kilroy. Again Kilroy needed barely over a minute to pin his opponent to the mat.

SUNY Oneonta got its lone win of the dual at 184, followed by a major decision win by
Thomas Anderson at 197. The Lions received a forfeit at heavyweight to close out the match.

Ortega started the Lions final match of the day with his third technical fall of the day. Ortega ended the match with an 18-3 lead.

Giordano faced his toughest test of the day with a 7-3 win at 133. Dinger followed with a 10-5 win of his own.

The Lions got bonus points from Gagliano at 149. Late in the second period, Gagliano took a 20-2 lead for a technical fall that put TCNJ up 16-0.

The Tigers fought back with their two best individual performers keeping them in the match. Fifth-ranked Kaidon Winters and fourth-ranked Dempsey King each earned pins to close the gap to 16-12. Kilroy stopped the bleeding with a major decision at 174 extending the lead to 20-12.

After RIT closed the gap to 20-15, Haddad clinched the match with an 11-1 major decision at 197. RIT earned a victory at heavyweight to end the match.

The Lions return to action on Alumni Day Saturday. The Lions will host Lycoming College at 3 p.m. in the Rec Center.
