Men's Basketball Clipped by Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The TCNJ men's basketball team saw its four-game winning streak come to a close at Rowan on Wednesday night. The Profs topped the Lions by a final score of 84-73. TCNJ fell to 11-8 on the season including 8-4 in NJAC play, while Rowan became 9-10 and 5-7 in the conference.

Both sides traded three-pointers early on in the first half. Ryan Jensen sank a three-pointer to put TCNJ ahead 15-12 with 12:36 to play. The Profs countered with a three-pointer on the next possession, but then the Lions had an answer of their own. Mike Walley connected from deep to push the lead back to three.

Anthony DiCaro scored on a lay-up to cut Rowan's lead to 34-29 with three minutes to go in the first. DiCaro then made two free throws with 33 seconds to play in the first to trim it to a 40-31 deficit. Rowan took that lead into halftime.

The Lions recorded the first six points of the second period, and pulled to within 40-37. P.J. Ringel got the second half scoring underway with a jumper. Randall Walko then recorded four points with two free throws and a bucket to make it a three point Rowan lead.

Ringel hit on a jumper to cut the lead to 44-41 with 12:38 to play, but after that, Rowan took a 13 point lead with a 10-0 run. The Profs took a lead as big as 17. TCNJ hung around, yet the Lions were not able to pull within arm's reach and Rowan held onto the victory.

Walko put together another strong outing for TCNJ. He led all scorers in the game with 29 points. He also grabbed nine rebounds, and tonight marked his 11th game of 20 points or more this season.

Travis Jocelyn tallied 12 points and seven rebounds. Ringel scored nine points, while Jensen grabbed eight rebounds.

TCNJ will return to the court on Feb. 1, when the Lions will face Montclair State at home.
