HOPEWELL, N.J. – Head coach
Scott Dicheck earned his 200
th career men's tennis coaching victory Saturday, as The College of New Jersey defeated University of the Sciences 8-1. The win was the first dual of the season for the 32
nd-ranked Lions. The Devils dropped to 1-5 with the loss.
TCNJ jumped out to a 3-0 lead in doubles. Nick Makiwsky and
Akul Telluri had no problems at number three, cruising to an 8-1 victory.
Matthew Michibata and
Justin Wain won 8-4 at number one.
Thomas Wright and
Gokul Murugesan survived an 8-6 match at number two.
The Lions strong play carried over to singles. Four Lions won in straight sets.
Nikola Kilibarda led the way with a 6-1, 6-1 win at number six. Matkiwsky recorded the clinching point with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at number four. Michibata won in straight sets at number one and Telluri won in straight sets at number five.
TCNJ returns to the courts with a trip to Babson on Feb. 23.
