MEDFIELD, Mass. – The 32
nd-ranked TCNJ men's tennis team fell for the first time in 2020, suffering a 6-3 setback against Babson College on Sunday. The Lions are now 1-1 on the season, while the Beavers improved to 4-1.
After the Beavers got an 8-4 win at first doubles, TCNJ responded with an 8-3 win by
Thomas Wright and
Gokul Murugesan at number two.
Akul Telluri and
Nick Matkiwsky won a hard-fought 8-7 match at number three.
Babson took control of the match in singles play. The Beavers won in straight sets at numbers two, three, five and six.
Matthew Michibata took a set at number one, but ultimately fell 2-6, 6-3, 1-6. Matkiwsky earned the Lions' lone singles point with a 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5) win at number four.
The Lions return to the courts Friday, when they host Haverford at 2:15 p.m.
