TCNJ Leads NJAC With 199 All-Academic Team Honorees

NJAC All-Academic Team Release

PITMAN, N.J. – The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its all-academic team for the 2019-20 school year on Wednesday. The College of New Jersey led all institutions in the conference with 199 student-athletes earning All-NJAC Academic honors.

To be eligible for the NJAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior, or senior who has competed in a conference-sponsored sport while achieving a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20. First and second-team selections were made by each of the league's 10 full-member institutions.

Annie Menninger and Richard Gruters both earned First Team All-NJAC Academic honors. Menninger and Gruters were the recipients of the TCNJ Dr. Harold W. Eickhoff Outstanding Senior Female & Male Student-Athlete honors. Menninger was a member of the women's swimming & diving team and graduated with a 3.95 GPA while majoring in secondary education/math. Gruters was a member of the men's cross country & track and field teams. He was a secondary education/history major and graduated with a 3.95 GPA.

Kayla Peterson and Randall Walko each were named to Second Team All-NJAC Academic honors. Peterson was a member of the field hockey team. She was a health & exercise science major and graduated with a 3.6 GPA. Walko was a member of the men's basketball team and graduated with a 3.4 GPA while majoring in management. Peterson was recently named NJAC Fall Female Athlete of the Year, while Walko was named NJAC Winter Male Athlete of the Year.
