INDIANAPOLIS – What began as a record group of 605 nominees earlier this year has been narrowed down to 160 conference-level nominees for the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year on Tuesday.
Kayla Peterson of the TCNJ field hockey team became the Lions' third consecutive conference-level nominee following
Elizabeth Morrison '18 and Natalie Cooper '19.

Peterson earned a pair of NFHCA All-America honors during her career, including being named to the first team in 2019. Peterson was also named NFHCA Regional Player of the Year following her senior season. In the classroom, Peterson was a four-time member of the NFHCA National Academic Squad. She additionally was a member of the Dean's List during five of her eight semesters.

Moving forward, the Woman of the Year selection committee will select the top 30 honorees, ten from each of the NCAA's three divisions. From among those 30 candidates, the selection committee determines the top three finalists in each division. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will select the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year from the nine finalists. The 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced later this fall.
