Men's Soccer Powers Past Pratt

EWNG, N.J. - The TCNJ men's soccer team put on a dazzling offensive display in a 6-0 non-conference rout of visiting Pratt Institute on Saturday afternoon.

Playing in front of alums from the 1991 NCAA runner-up and the 1996 NCAA championship squads, the Lions (7-7-1) easily extended their winning streak to four with a dominating all-around effort.

Justin Dominique nabbed his second brace in as many games, while Sammy Burkhard and Jake Gershon each registered their first career goal. Nicholas Franco and Luke Pascarella rounded out the scoring for TCNJ, which moved to 5-1 at home this season.

Gershon opened the scoring - and his collegiate account - with a volley off a beautiful cross from Julien Carraha, who tallied his first career point with the assist. Carraha's brother, Dario, achieved the same feat in the 29th minute, playing a through ball to the feet of Burkhard, who ripped a pinpoint shot to the upper right corner.

TCNJ doubled the lead in a lightning-quick sequence, scoring twice in a span of just 37 seconds. Sebastian Hernandez set up Pascarella's goal with a cross, and Pascarella followed up his own rebound with a short pass forward for an easy goal by Dominique just over a half-minute later.

Dominique made it three goals in less than seven minutes with a tap-in into a wide-open net after he was released by Ryan Santos' pass from the left side. Nicholas Franco then capped the scoring just past the hour-mark with a left-footed rocket that nestled into the upper left corner of the net from long range.

TCNJ racked up 37 shots for the day, with 15 different players recording one.

Freshman Walker Smith earned the start in his collegiate debut, making a save on the Cannoneers' lone shot of the day. He was replaced for the second half by Colin Rentner, who was easily able to see out the clean sheet.

The Lions continue their push for an NJAC playoff spot at Ramapo on Wednesday.
