EWING, N.J. – The No. 1 TCNJ women's soccer team treated its alumni to another impressive performance on Saturday morning, rolling to a 5-0 NJAC victory over Ramapo.
The Lions (13-0, 7-0) got two goals from
Ivonne Vazquez in remaining unblemished ahead of a titanic clash at No. 2 Johns Hopkins next week.
Gianna Coppola and
Sofia Alves also found the back of the net in a dominant effort.
Coppola opened the scoring about seven minutes in, capitalizing on a giveaway as she won the ball off a turnover and fired a low shot into the right corner of the net with her left foot.
TCNJ hit the post twice and had a shot cleared off the line before Alves doubled the advantage on the stroke of the half-hour, taking a through ball from
Gianna Minerva and firing one home. The hosts added a third before halftime as a cross was deflected into the back of the net by a Ramapo defender.
The Lions took their foot off the attack in the second half but still managed to tack on two more goals. Vazquez got on the score sheet with a goal from a beautiful through ball by Lindsey O'Keefe in 66
th minute, then stamped her first career brace in the 78
th minute as
Rachel Robichaud's lofted pass bounded over the goalie's head and gave Vazquez an open net.
TCNJ put half of its 24 shots on target and attempted five corner kicks. The only shot the Lions allowed was a long-range effort that bounced off the top of the bar midway through the second half. Otherwise,
Alexandra Panasuk (72:24 of game time) and
Corinne Byrum (17:36 were not troubled between the pipes.
