EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ men's soccer team stood up to No. 15 Montclair State on Saturday night at Lions Stadium, but a first-half goal and two late goals helped the Red Hawks to a 3-0 victory.
The first goal came in the 15
th minute when Montclair's Amer Lukovic corralled a loose ball inside and scored on
Julian Franco.
The Lions pressed on, and
Luke Pascarella had two brilliant shots in a two-minute span midway through the second half. On a free kick in the 65
th minute, his shot was strong and low, but Shane Keenan made a sliding stop. Two minutes later, a loose ball found its way to Pascarella, and he blasted a shot that was just inches over both Keenan's outstretched arms and the crossbar.
The Lions staged more rushes but couldn't unlock the combo on tying the score, and Montclair took advantage by using a penalty kick in the 84
th minute to double its lead to 2-0.
The Red Hawks added another on a breakaway in the final seconds as the Lions were pushing everyone forward.
Ryan Santos and
Julien Carraha joined Pascarella with a team-high two shots apiece.
