EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ men's soccer team honored its senior class at halftime of a rainy Saturday evening at Lions Stadium, and the Lions and Kean played a spirited and competitive contest in front of the hearty folks who withstood the suboptimal weather.
Kean's Matt O'Shea got the winner in the 102
nd minute. He chipped a shot just under the crossbar to give Kean the golden goal victory.
After a scoreless first half, Kean broke the tie with a goal from Erick Chicas in the 47
th minute. That lead didn't last long, however, as the Lions came back in the 55
th minute to tie the score.
Justin Dominique threaded a pass to
Ryan Santos who blasted a shot past Dominic Ridge to tie the score.
The shots were pretty even through regulation, with Kean holding a 15-12 lead, but TCNJ had a couple chances in the second half to take the lead. Santos had the ball on his foot on a free kick from the left side of the box, but his curling shot was denied by Ridge.
The Lions had a golden opportunity in the final minute of regulation, as well, to end the game before the final horn.
Dario Carraha found himself with space in front of the Kean net, but his rifle of a shot couldn't beat Ridge.
Santos, Carraha and
Jake Gershon all had three shots to lead TCNJ.
The Lions conclude the regular season on Wednesday night at Stockton.
