GALLOWAY, N.J. – The TCNJ men's soccer team fell on the wrong side of a 2-0 decision at Stockton in its regular-season finale.
Despite the setback, the Lions (8-9-1, 4-4-1) still clinched their first NJAC Tournament berth since 2016 when Rowan defeated Rutgers-Camden. TCNJ earned the No. 6 seed and will travel to No. 3 seed Kean for an NJAC quarterfinal date on Saturday.
TCNJ managed only one shot on target – an attempt by
Ryan Santos with just over seven minutes to play. Stockton (9-8-2, 5-3-1) came out on the front foot in the second half and grabbed the game's first goal in the 52nd minute on a shot by Joseph Carbone.
With the Lions pushing for an equalizer, Carbone netted a second marker with 5 seconds to play, ending the blue and gold's comeback hopes.
Santos accounted for two of the four shots for TCNJ, and
Julian Franco finished with six saves between the pipes.
Now, the Lions brace for a matchup with Kean in the quarterfinals. The Cougars pulled out a 2-1 thriller in double-overtime at Lions Stadium last Saturday in the teams' regular-season meeting.
