UNION, N.J. – The No. 1 TCNJ women's soccer team dominated play against Kean on Saturday, outshooting the Cougars, 40-2. That included a 25-0 advantage in shots in the second half. Even with that level of domination, Kean held off the TCNJ attack from scoring until the 87
th minute. With that late goal on the Lions' 40
th shot, TCNJ stayed undefeated on the season with the 1-0 victory.
The flurry in the final 10 minutes from the Lions saw TCNJ take six shots and add in a corner kick. The goal came on a sequence that started with
Gianna Coppola's shot that didn't find the back of the net, but just 13 seconds later,
Emma Pascarella found
Amelia Curtis for the goal that gave the Lions the victory.
The Lions held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks, including a 5-0 lead in the second half.
The Lions' offensive output came from lots of different sources. Coppola had eight shots, and Curtis had six with three on goal. Pascarella had five, and both
Sophie Vieira and
Nikki Butler had four shots.
TCNJ returns home to honor its seniors and conclude the regular season on Wednesday night against Stockton at 6:30 p.m.
