CAMDEN, N.J. – The TCNJ men's basketball team led for 37:44 of the full 40 minutes to earn the victory over Rutgers-Camden on Friday night. The Lions improved to 3-0 on the young season with the win.

TCNJ used an 20-4 run early in the second half to grab control of the game. The Lions led, 34-25, at halftime. Rutgers-Camden pulled to within 35-31 two minutes into the half, then TCNJ raced out to a 55-35 lead with 11:08 left to play.

Travis Jocelyn got the run going with a three-pointer off of an Anthony DiCaro assist. On the next possession, P.J. Ringel came up with a steal and went all the way for a lay-up.

The tough TCNJ defense forced a couple of turnovers on the next two Rutgers-Camden possessions. The defense led to instant offense, as trifectas from Brandon Slaybaugh and DiCaro pushed the lead to 46-31.

TCNJ played strong defense to shut down the Rutgers-Camden offense. The Lions forced 18 turnovers and turned them into 25 points. The Lions limited the Scarlet Raptors to just 31.4% (16-of-51) shooting from the field on the night.

A few possessions later, Slaybaugh hit a jumper to give TCNJ a 48-34 lead. On the next trip down the court, Slaybaugh set up a Jocelyn lay-up. The run kept coming, as Naysean Burch drilled a three-pointer, then Jim Clemente hit a jumper to put the Lions ahead by 20 with just over 11 minutes left to play. TCNJ was able to control the final stretch of the game to clinch its third-straight win.

Jocelyn paced the Lions with 17 points. The senior forward shot 4-of-7 from three-point territory and grabbed six rebounds.

Jason Larranaga scored 14 points and shot 4-of-9 from three-point range. Clemente scored a career-high 10 points. The sophomore forward shot 5-of-6 from the free throw line and added six boards. Ringel scored six points, grabbed seven rebounds and three steals, and dished out three assists.

The Lions and the Scarlet Raptors will compete in game two in Packer Hall tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
