SALISBURY, Md. – The TCNJ lacrosse team saw its five-game winning streak that dated back through the shortened 2020 season come to an end on Saturday afternoon. The tenth-ranked Lions fell to the fifth-ranked Seagulls of Salisbury University, 14-8. TCNJ's record evens at 1-1 and the Seagulls improved to 6-0.

TCNJ opened the scoring just over a minute into the game when
Veronika O'Donnell earned an eight-meter and converted the shot. Following a pair of Salisbury goals, TCNJ tied the game as
Jennifer LaRocca dodged a defender and beat the goalie.

Salisbury took early control of the game at that point, scoring four of the games next five goals to go up 6-3. LaRocca assisted on goals by
Katherine Naiburg and
Anna Devlin as the Lions cut the deficit to 7-5, but Erin Scannell scored two of her game-high six goals to give Salisbury a 9-5 lead at the half.

Jillian Westerby and
Anna Wright opened the scoring in the second half, again trimming the deficit to two. The Seagulls closed out the game on a 5-1 run to produce the final score. Westerby recorded her first career hat trick in the game.

Ali Natalicchio led the defensive effort with nine saves to go along with a team-high three ground balls.
Sabrina Phillips led all players with six draw controls.

The Lions return to action on Tuesday when they host Stockton University for a non-conference game. First draw is at 4 p.m.
