Devlin Sets Program Record as No. 14 Lacrosse Tops Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The TCNJ lacrosse team used an eight-goal run to begin the second half, blowing open a tight game to defeat Stockton, 16-7 on Tuesday evening. The win moves the 14th-ranked Lions to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the NJAC. The Ospreys fell to 2-2 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

In the win, Anna Devlin set a single-game program record since full game records were kept beginning in 2002 with 12 draw controls. The previous record of 11 was done three times, once by Devlin last time out against Rowan, once by Elizabeth Morrison in 2018, and once by Kathleen Notos in 2010.

Leading 6-4 at the half, six different Lions scored during the run that put the game out of reach. Devlin opened the rally, scoring off a feed from Veronika O'Donnell. Jennifer LaRocca, Anna Wright, Erin Jaffe, and Jillian Westerby all followed with free-position goals. Westerby then found O'Donnell for a tally before she and Jaffe scored again on eight-meter shots to cap the run. The teams then traded goals down the stretch to produce the final score.

Westerby and Wright gave the Lions a 2-0 advantage midway through the first half that the Ospreys quickly erased, tying the game at two. Wright and Westerby bookended a pair of Jaffe goals that put TCNJ up 6-2, before Stockton added two more to give the Lions the 6-4 halftime lead.

Ali Natalicchio made four saves to earn the win for the Lions. In addition to Devlin, Westerby also added seven draw controls to give TCNJ a 21-4 advantage on the draw circle. Jaffe, LaRocca, and Sabrina Phillips all had three ground balls in the contest.

The Lions are now 9-0 all-time against Stockton.

TCNJ returns to action on Saturday when the Lions host Rutgers-Camden at 1 p.m. Prior to the game the team will honor its four senior members.
