Game Preview: Softball at Rutgers-Camden

EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ softball team is riding a seven-game winning streak, and the Lions will look to continue the momentum against Rutgers-Camden on Tuesday. TCNJ is 7-1 this season including 6-0 in NJAC action. The doubleheader will begin at 3:00 p.m.

LIONS SWEEP THE RANKED COUGARS
TCNJ swept No. 8 Kean University last time out on Saturday, winning by final scores of 2-0 and 6-2. In game one, Eliza Sweet threw 4.1 strong innings to earn the victory. She struck out six batters while not walking any. Ally Schlee finished off the win, going 2.2 innings to record the save. Schlee racked up five strikeouts and allowed just one hit.

In game two, Alanna Namit pitched a complete game to improve to 3-0 this season. Namit struck out eight batters and only walked three. Lauren Conroy homered in game one, and Elyse Nardozza went yard in game two to pace the offensive attack.

TCNJ TAKES HOME THREE WEEKLY NJAC HONORS
Namit, Schlee, and Julia Kinnally all collected weekly conference honors on Monday. Namit was named NJAC Pitcher of the Week, Schlee was named NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week, and Kinnally was named NJAC Rookie of the Week.

Namit pitched to a 2-0 record with a 1.00 ERA in 14 innings of work for the Lions. She struck out 13 batters while walking only four.

Schlee pitched to a 2.17 ERA in 9.2 innings. She recorded 11 strikeouts while only allowing one walk. Schlee recorded both a win and a save in the circle.

Kinnally was on fire at the plate, tallying a .583 batting average as she went 7-12. She recorded a home run, three RBIs, and one run scored.

BATS ARE ON FIRE
The Lions are currently leading the NJAC in batting average with a team mark of .373. That also is good for 33rd in all of NCAA Division III. Kaci Neveling leads the NJAC with an impressive .577 batting average, while Kinnally is right behind in second with a .529 mark.

ON THE HORIZON
TCNJ will resume action with a home doubleheader against Montclair State on Saturday. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
