EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ softball team will take on Montclair State in an NJAC doubleheader on Saturday, April 17. First pitch for game one at Dr. June Walker Field is set for 1:00 p.m.

TCNJ is ranked No. 18 in the last NFCA Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll. The Lions broke into the national rankings for the first time this season after a 4-0 slate of games last week. Two of those wins came against Kean, who was ranked No. 8 at the time. The Cougars fell to No. 20 in this week's rankings. TCNJ and Kean are the only NJAC teams currently in the top 25.
SPLIT AGAINST THE SCARLET RAPTORS
Last time out, the Lions took a split against Rutgers-Camden by final scores of 2-1 and 5-0. TCNJ bounced back in game two to capture the shutout win. The game one defeat snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Lions.
In game two,
Alanna Namit pitched a complete game shutout to seal the win. The senior right-hander struck out six batters while allowing only three hits. Namit has frequently shut down opposing bats this season, and she ranks sixth in all of NCAA Division III in hits allowed per seven innings with a 2.85 average.
GOING FOR FIVE STRAIGHT
In this head-to-head matchup, the Lions have won the last four games dating back to April 28, 2018. These teams last met in the 2019 regular season, where the Lions won by scores of 4-0 and 5-0.
Katie Winchock went 5-7 with three runs scored in the doubleheader sweep.
TCNJ is 8-2 in the last 10 games against the Red Hawks dating back to April 24, 2015.
