Game Preview: No. 19 Softball vs. New Jersey City

EWING, N.J. –The No. 19 TCNJ softball team will take on New Jersey City University in an NJAC doubleheader on Saturday, April 24, at home. First pitch of game one will be at 1:00 p.m.

STRONG IN SECOND
The Lions are currently slated in second place in the NJAC standings. TCNJ is 10-2 in conference action, while Rowan is currently 13-1. The Lions handed Rowan their first NJAC loss of the season in game one of Tuesday's doubleheader split.

SWEET AND SCHLEE SHUT DOWN THE PROFS
TCNJ pitched a shutout in the 2-0 game one win over the Profs. Starting pitcher Eliza Sweet shut down the Rowan bats with six strikeouts, no walks, and only three hits allowed in six innings. Ally Schlee finished it off in the seventh to earn her second save of the season. Heading into Tuesday's games, the Profs' offense led the NJAC in runs, hits, and RBIs.

BATS ARE HOT
TCNJ is now the conference's leader in batting average with a team mark of .353. That also ranks the Lions 49th in all of NCAA Division III.

Kaci Neveling leads TCNJ with a scorching .548 batting average, and that also ranks her 35th in the nation. Jaclyn Carifi is second on the team with a .417 batting average, and Lauren Conroy is third with a .394 average.

POWER SURGE
Conroy leads the Lions and ranks second in slugging percentage with a .788 mark. She is the NJAC's leader in walks with 13 and ranks third in on base percentage with a mark of .571.

GOING FOR THE BAKER'S DOZEN
TCNJ has held the upper hand against NJCU, as the Lions are riding a 12-game winning streak over the Gothic Knights. NJCU last won against TCNJ on April 20, 2013.

WELCOME BACK, LIONS!
After the doubleheader, TCNJ will honor its Class of 2020 by welcoming back Kristen Barrera, Megan Mayernik, and Annalise Suitovsky.
