EWING, N.J. – After a 16-2 regular-season, the TCNJ softball team has locked up the No. 2 seed in the NJAC Tournament. The Lions will face Rutgers-Camden, the No. 7 seed, in a best-of-three quarterfinals. Games one and two will be on May 7, with game three, if necessary, to be played on May 8.
The quarterfinals will be at Dr. June Walker field, with game one on Friday starting at 2:00 p.m., and game three on Saturday, if necessary, also starting at 2:00 p.m.

NJAC BRACKET
SEASON SERIES
The Lions and the Scarlet Raptors met on April 13 and split the doubleheader. Rutgers-Camden won a low-scoring pitcher's duel by a final score of 2-1 in game one. TCNJ bounced back to win game two, 5-0.
In game two, the Lions used a five-run sixth inning to clinch the victory.
Alanna Namit tossed a complete-game shutout in the circle, allowing just three singles while striking out six.
Jaclyn Carifi picked up two hits to lead the offense, while eight total Lions tallied eight hits.
The Lions are 6-1 against the Scarlet Raptors dating back to April 5, 2017.
STRONG CONFERENCE RECORD
Since the start of the 2018 season, the Lions have a remarkable 49-5 record in conference play. TCNJ captured the last NJAC championship, which was the 2019 season. It marked the 11
th conference title in program history for the Lions.
HOME COOKIN'
TCNJ will look to continue its home-field advantage, as the Lions own an undefeated 10-0 mark at Dr. June Walker Field this season. TCNJ is 34-6 at home dating back to the beginning of the 2018 season.
Should the Lions win in the quarterfinals, they would host the semifinal round, beginning on May 11.
LIONS COLLECT EIGHT ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS
Julia Mayernik was named NJAC Co-Rookie of the Year on Thursday. Four Lions were named First Team All-NJAC in
Eliza Sweet,
Allie Immerso,
Lauren Conroy, and
Kaci Neveling. Mayernik,
Alanna Namit, and Carifi each were named Second Team All-NJAC.
EFFICIENCY ON OFFENSE AND DEFENSE
The Lions hold the top team batting average in the conference with a mark of .374. That is well above the second-place team, which is Rowan with a .328 clip. TCNJ also ranks 24
th in the nation in batting average.
TCNJ's pitching staff is also tied for first place in the NJAC with a 1.55 ERA. That is also among the top marks in all of the nation, as the Lions are ranked 11
th in that category. TCNJ's WHIP of 0.98 is also ninth in Division III.
THE BRACKET AHEAD
The winner of this quarterfinal matchup will play the winner of the No. 3 seed Montclair State and the No. 6 seed Stockton's quarterfinal. The NJAC semifinals begin on May 11, with the if-necessary game three to be played on May 12.
