NEWARK, N.J – The TCNJ men's soccer competed in the first game of the Rutgers-Newark Brick City Classic on Friday. The Lions battled to double overtime against Moravian, but ultimately fell by a final score of 3-2.
TCNJ's first goal came in the 36
th minute off the foot of
Sebastian Hernandez. Hernandez found the back of the net for his first career score.
Three minutes into the second half,
Timmy Suchora gave TCNJ a two-goal lead. Suchora scored off an assist from
Sammy Burkhard. The score was Suchora's first of his career.
The Greyhounds got on the board only a minute after Suchora's goal. With under eight to play in the game Moravian tied it up.
Neither side was able to break through in the first overtime, and it seemed as if the game was heading to a draw, but Moravian scored with 1:22 left to clinch the win.
In net for TCNJ was
Julian Franco, who recorded seven saves.
TCNJ will face Penn State Behrend on Sunday as the Bick City Classic continues.
