No. 4 Field Hockey Blanks Cabrini, 6-0

EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ field hockey team saw its national ranking move from No. 6 to No. 4 in the NFHCA coaches poll on Tuesday afternoon, and the Lions went out and proved their worthiness in that rankings jump with a 6-0 defeat of Cabrini at the TCNJ Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.

The Lions (4-0) scored twice in the first minute of the game, setting the tone for the dominant performance that followed. Jess Hatch scored 44 seconds into action, and Rayhanah Ahmed followed 15 seconds later on a feed from Sophia Foschini.

Hatch got her second goal later in the period, scoring at 10:42 with an assist from Sophie Popp. TCNJ outshot Cabrini, 13-0, in the first quarter.

Kayla Cichlar scored the next two goals for the Lions, with one coming 36 seconds into the second quarter to make it 4-0. She added another midway through the third period to increase the lead to 5-0. Cichlar then assisted on Hatch's third goal of the game late in the third period to round out the scoring.

Cichlar's nine shots and six shots on goal led the Lions, while Hatch had six shots and four on goal.

The Lions had 15 penalty corners to Cabrini's one.

TCNJ plays its first road game of the 2021 season on Saturday when it travels to No. 7 Messiah for a 1 p.m. match.
