MADISON, N.J. – The TCNJ men's soccer team was topped by Drew on Wednesday afternoon by a final tally of 2-1. TCNJ dips to 2-4 on the season while the Rangers bumped their record to 2-2.
Joseph Schlageter scored his first goal of the season to tie the match in the 42
nd minute.
Alex Quezada sent in a free kick that Schlageter tracked down. The junior defender sent in a header that looped over the Drew goalkeeper to lock the game at 1-1.
Drew hopped in front just under two minutes into the second half when Kevin Kiernan found the back of the net. Kiernan was set up by Kyle Bethel to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead.
With less than five minutes remaining TCNJ had a look to tie the game, yet
Dario Carraha's shot hit the crossbar. Schlageter had another chance as he sent in a header but it was denied by the Drew goalkeeper to keep the Rangers in front.
Drew out-shot TCNJ by a slim 11-10 margin.
Julian Franco recorded a career-high six saves in goal for TCNJ.
Next up for TCNJ is a the NJAC opener, a Saturday night match at Rutgers-Newark beginning at 7:30 p.m.
