EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ men's soccer team jumped out early on William Paterson on Saturday evening at Lions Stadium and won, 3-1, in NJAC play. With the win, the Lions are now 1-0-1 in NJAC play. William Paterson falls to 0-2.
The goals came quickly for TCNJ in its first NJAC home game of the year.
Timmy Suchora started the fun with a header that went in high over WPU goalie Sean Furtek. The entry pass came from
Ryan Phillips to set up the Suchora score to make it 1-0.
Exactly three minutes later,
Justin Dominique doubled the TCNJ lead with a goal off a nice feed from
Luke Pascarella. Just like that, TCNJ had a 2-0 lead 12:11 into play.
The Lions outshot William Paterson, 8-6, in the first half, and it took that final shot in the half to push the TCNJ lead to 3-0 with a goal in the final minute of the period.
Jason Tango scored on a header to make it 3-0 with an assist to
Sammy Burkhard.
William Paterson scored on a free kick from 20 yards out in the 47
th minute just after the second half began, but the Lions' lead was just too large.
Julian Franco made two more saves in goal for the Lions. He entered the contest leading the NJAC in saves.
TCNJ returns to action at Rowan on Wednesday.
