HAVERFORD, Pa. – The No. 9 TCNJ women's soccer team defeated Haverford in the Haverford College Kickoff Classic on Sunday by a final score of 2-0.
TCNJ got on the board first in the 34
th minute with a goal from
Victoria D'Imperio. The freshman from Bordentown, N.J., recorded her first career goal to get the Lions on top in the first half.
The Lions' defense held strong in the second half and limited Haverford to one shot on the game.
TCNJ tacked on another goal in the 88
th minute when
Sophie Vieira found the back of the net. Vieira scored her first career goal off an assist from
Ava Garay to give the Lions a 2-0 lead.
Alexandra Panasuk recorded her second shutout of the year in net for the Lions. TCNJ had an impressive 19-0 edge in corner kicks on the afternoon.
The Lions will return to action for the home opener on Sept. 10 to face Stevens.
