Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Andy Edwards

Men's Basketball Falls to Ramapo

EWING, N.J. – Despite a balanced scoring effort, the TCNJ men's basketball team was unable to keep up with hot-shooting Ramapo and suffered a 77-66 NJAC setback in Packer Hall on Wednesday.

Jim Clemented led four players in double figures with 13 points for the Lions, who never led as Ramapo shot 52.0 percent from the field and gradually pulled away after a tight first half.

The Roadrunners scored the game's first six points, but the entire first half was played within that margin. The teams were tied three times, the last at 22-22 on a deep trailing 3-pointer by Jason Larranaga with 5:41 to play before intermission. Ramapo answered with a 3 on the other end and was on top the rest of the way.

Ramapo took a 34-30 lead into the break and netted the first four points of the second half to hinder TCNJ's hopes of a rally. The Lions trailed by a dozen before Larranaga and Naysean Burch canned back-to-back triples, cutting the deficit in half to 49-43 with 11:34 to go.

The visitors, however, ran off a 10-2 run over the next three minutes, and TCNJ never threatened again.

Mansfield Warren scored a game-high 21 points to lead Ramapo (5-15, 4-12), which made six 3-pointers to double its season average.

Clemente was 6-for-8 from the field, including a powerful dunk in the early going, and added five rebounds and four assists. Danny Bodine snagged a last-minute rebound to notch a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards, while Jacob Hopping finished with 12 points.

Burch had 11 points, four rebounds, and four assists and Larranaga chipped in nine points and five rebounds.

TCNJ owned a 37-30 advantage on the glass and a 14-7 edge in second-chance points, but Ramapo converted 19 Lions turnovers into 19 points on the other end.
The men's basketball team heads to William Paterson on Saturday.
