Box Score 1 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – TCNJ faced Hamilton in a doubleheader on Tuesday night at Chain of Lakes Park. Hamilton took game one, 4-1, before the second game was called in the third inning due to lightning.
GAME 1 – Hamilton 4, TCNJ 1
TCNJ pitchers allowed just two hits in the seven-inning contest, but Hamilton made the most of those hits while using eight walks and two hit-batsmen to defeat the Lions, 4-1.
Both of Hamilton's hits were RBI singles, driving in runners who reached via leadoff free bases. In the first, a leadoff walk led to a two-out single to make it 1-0 Hamilton. In the fifth, it was a leadoff hit-by-pitch that led to a two-out single to make it 2-0.
The Lions got one of those runs back in the top of the sixth.
Ryan Goodall led off the inning with a single, and he stole second and moved to third on a balk. With one out,
Joe Oczkowski flied out to center, allowing Goodall to cross with the Lions' first run of the day.
In the abbreviated seven-inning game, though, Hamilton lodged the final blow in the bottom of the sixth with two runs without the benefit of a hit. Three walks, a hit-batsman, plus a balk equaled trouble for TCNJ.
Goodall added a double to go 2-for-3.
Matthew Crawford allowed just one hit while striking out five through four innings of work, allowing just the first-inning run.
GAME 2 – SUSPENDED DUE TO LIGHTNING
The Lions held a 3-1 lead heading during the bottom of the third inning when the game was called due to lightning. There is no indication if the game will resume at a later date this week, but the game has not reached official status, meaning stats and the result are not official.
