Women's Tennis Blanks F&M

HOPEWELL, N.J. – The TCNJ women's tennis team got the best of a number of tight sets on the way to a 9-0 non-conference sweep of Franklin & Marshall on Saturday.

Charlotte Roarty and Jenny Landells produced an 8-2 victory over Cassidy Landau and Sammi Perry on the number one doubles court. Alexa Vasile and Chase Eisenberg were 8-5 winners over Jenna Harrison and Mackenzie Sherman at No. 2, while Anusha Rangu and Aira Abalos easily took the number three court by an 8-1 count over Presley Daggett and Clara March.

Singes was a far more competitive affair, with Rangu's 6-1, 6-4 result at No. 4 the most lopsided. Rangu improved to 5-0 in dual matches this season.

Abalos picked up a 6-2, 7-5 win over Perry at No. 2, and Vasile captured a 6-3, 6-4 decision against Harrison at No. 3.

Roarty outlasted Landau, 8-6, in a first-set tiebreaker en route to a 7-6 (6), 6-2 victory on the top court, and Landells bookended by edging out Emily Tsai by a 7-5, 6-4 count at number six.

Morgan Grimmie narrowly eked past Sherman at No. 5, coming up with the big points to keep her Diplomat adversary at arm's length and ultimately prevail in a 10-8 super breaker.

The Lions take on Washington College next Friday.
