EWING, N.J.- The No. 15 ranked TCNJ women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 1-0 victory against Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday night.
With the win over the Scarlet Raptors (8-8-1, 4-5) on Wednesday, the Lions (13-2-1, 8-1) clinch the two seed as well as a bye in the first round of the NJAC tournament.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Lions controlled possession for the majority of the first half, but could not cash in on the eight shots they took. The best chances of the half came early for TCNJ as Emma Pascarella and Victoria D'Imperio each had their shots on goal saved in the first ten minutes.Â
- Shortly into the second half, D'Imperio put herself in the perfect spot on the Rachel Burkhard set piece to deposit a header into the back of the net and give the Lions the lead.
- Rutgers-Camden fought hard and had a solid game plan to attack the Lions defense as Bella Norman had two saves in the second half to help seal the win.
NOTES:
- The goal for D'Imperio is her 17th on the season which leads the NJAC and is also top-20 nationally.
- Burkhard has had points in each of the last two games with a goal on Saturday and an assist on Wednesday.
- Since 2002, TCNJ women's soccer has yet to miss a single NJAC tournament.
- The shutout for Norman marks her fifth solo shutout of the season.
