Garay's Brace Pushes Women's Soccer Past Montclair, Into NJAC Final

EWING, N.J.- The 15th ranked TCNJ women's soccer team earned themselves a spot in the NJAC Championship with a 3-2 win against No. 20 Montclair St. in the NJAC Semifinals on Tuesday night.

The Lions (14-2-1, 9-1) were paced by Ava Garay who had a goal in each half to maintain a lead on the Red Hawks (13-3-2, 6-2-2) that they could not bounce back from.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
-          In the 11th minute, the Lions gained an early lead as Ava Curtis made a long entry pass to Garay, who secured the ball and scored on the left side of the crease, giving TCNJ a 1-0 advantage.
-          Eleven minutes later, the Blue and Gold seized another opportunity as a misplayed Curtis entry pass by a Red Hawk defender allowed Emma Pascarella to close in and score, putting the Lions ahead 2-0.
-          Montclair St. started to claw their way back into the game after going into the break down two as they scored just seven minutes into the second to cut the TCNJ lead in half.
-          In the 71st, Pascarella found Garay on a cross for a one-timer from the right corner to put TCNJ ahead 3-1.
-          After a foul inside the box by TCNJ, the Red Hawks cut into the lead for the last time on a PK in the 86th to close out the scoring.

NOTES:
-          The assist for Pascarella is number 14 on the year, which is the single season assist record at TCNJ. Along with that, she netted her eighth goal of the season on Tuesday night.
-          This is the second multi-goal game of the season for Garay as she deposited her fourth and fifth goals of the season.
-          Curtis dished out her fourth and fifth assist of the season in the first half.
-          The Lions now have a chance to win the 21st NJAC title in program history and the fifth out of the last six NJAC Championships.
