EWING, N.J. – The No. 13 TCNJ women's soccer team earned their fifth consecutive shutout on Wednesday with a 10-0 victory over Ramapo (2-7, 0-3).
Ella Van Dine's first half hat trick led the way for the Lions (8-1-1, 3-0) and their seven-goal first half explosion.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lions immediately got things going in the first 70 seconds of play as Ava Curtis sent great upfield pass to Emma Pascarella who poked it past the keeper to go up 1-0.
- Pascarella then assisted on the next two goals in the eighth and the 14th as Victoria D'Imperio headed in a Pascarella corner and Lindsay O'Keefe deflected a D'Imperio shot off her head into the back of the net. Pascarella set up the play beautifully with a touch inside to D'Imperio.
- O'Keefe kept up the offensive pressure for the Lions with her second goal of the game just two minutes later on an entry pass from Ava Garay that she made a pretty touch on to get past the keeper.
- The rest of the first half was the Van Dine show as she scored the next three goals unassisted in a matter of 12 minutes. Her first was a backwards, high-arching shot that got over the keeper; the second was a missile from 25 yards out into the top shelf and the third was rebounded off her own PK.
- It only took 10 minutes of second half play for the Lions to score again. Pascarella netted her second goal of the game from the left side of the box on a bending shot that found its way just inside the right post.
- In the 68th, Tiana Ramirez scored her first goal of the season on a shot from about 25 yards out that bent into the top right corner of the net.
- Grace Hamlin closed out the scoring for TCNJ in the 77th on a rebound of a Jaime Girtain shot that rolled right in front of the net for Hamlin to put away.
NOTES
- This shutout now marks 512 minutes since the Lions have last give up a goal.
- This is the first hat trick for Van Dine in her time as a Lion and the third, fourth and fifth goals for her career.
- D'Imperio now has 11 goals on the season and still leads the NJAC.
- Pascarella's two assists tonight puts her 7th all-time with 25 in her career.
