EWING, N.J. – Aira Abalos and
Alexa Vasile each enjoyed a milestone moment during the TCNJ women's tennis team's 9-0 sweep of Rutgers-Camden in Sunday's NJAC opener.
Abalos won at No. 3 doubles and No. 2 singles to reach 50 career victories, and Vasile registered her 50
th career doubles win alongside
Chase Eisenberg on the No. 2 court.
Abalos and
Anusha Rangu wasted little time rolling to an 8-0 blanking of Ashton Sirko and Alyna Cabrera in doubles. Vasile and Eisenberg then downed Sam Hoban and Katie Moore by an 8-4 count at No. 2, and
Jenny Landells and
Charlotte Roarty won by the same score over Sarah Ahrens and Laurel DiStefano at No. 1.
Roarty and Landells, who have played together nearly their entire careers, each collected their 60
th career doubles win.
The Lions (6-2, 1-0) made short work of singles play, dropping just five games across six matches. Eisenberg (No. 5) and Landells (No. 6) both won by double-bagel, while Roarty (No. 1), Abalos (No. 2), and Rangu (No. 4) each conceded a single game in their respective first sets.
Vasile rounded out the match with a 6-2, 6-0 triumph at No. 3.
The women's tennis team heads to New York next weekend to take on Oneonta and RPI.
