EWING, N.J. – The No. 39 TCNJ women's tennis team capped a dominant weekend with a 9-0 shutout of visiting RIT on Sunday.
The Lions (4-1) dropped just one game in doubles play in securing their second sweep in as many days and third overall.
Chase Eisenberg and
Alexa Vasile (No. 2) and
Aira Abalos and
Anusha Rangu (No. 3) each blanked their doubles opponents, 8-0, while
Charlotte Roarty and
Jenny Landells nearly did so on the top court before settling for an 8-1 win.
Roarty won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, and Abalos registered a 6-1, 6-4 triumph at No. 2. Vasile got the best of a tight first set and pulled away for a 6-4, 6-0 result at No. 3.
Rangu rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 rout at No. 4, Eisenberg double-bageled her adversary at No. 5, and Landells conceded only two games in a 6-2, 6-0 final at No. 6.
TCNJ won half of the 12 singles sets by a 6-0 count.
The Lions continue a seven-match home stand against William Smith on Friday.
