EWING, N.J. – The top-seeded TCNJ women's tennis team began NJAC postseason play with a dominant 5-0 victory over fourth-seeded Rutgers-Camden at the Tennis Complex on Wednesday.
The Lions (14-4, 6-0 NJAC) officially advance onto the NJAC Championship match on Saturday, where they will host second-seeded NJCU. The Gothic Knights won their Semifinals matchup against Stockton, 5-2, earlier in the day.
With the match also serving as Senior Day, the Lions (14-4, 6-0 NJAC) honored the four members of the 2022-23 senior class prior to the match:
Jenny Landells,
Anusha Rangu,
Charlotte Roarty, and
Alexa Vasile.
Doubles action saw a quick TCNJ sweep in which the duos of
Alexa Vasile/
Chase Eisenberg and
Aira Abalos/
Anusha Rangu didn't concede a lone game in their respective No. 2 and No. 3 matchups.
In No. 1 Doubles,
Charlotte Roarty and
Jenny Landells rounded out the sweep with an 8-3 victory over the Raptors' Sarah Ahrens and Laurel DiStefano.
Landells won the first singles and fourth overall match on the day after a dominant double-bagel effort in her No. 6 matchup against Lindsay Hernandez.
Vasile officially clinched the match with a double-bagel victory of her own over Camden's Katie Moore at No. 3 Singles.
While their singles matches ended up unfinished, Roarty (No. 1), Abalos (No. 2), Rangu (No. 4), and Eisenberg (No. 5) all were leading their opponents at the time of Vasile's match clinching victory.
The Lions will look to take home their 40th consecutive NJAC title on Saturday in their matchup against NJCU.
