WINCHESTER, VA.- The TCNJ Baseball team fell to Christopher Newport on Saturday evening in round two of the NCAA Regional by a score of 18-3.

After starter
Jackson Malouf worked a one, two, three inning in the first, the Lions got on the board early with one run on two hits. A
Jack Felipe bases loaded walk scored
Justin Marcario to bring the Lions ahead 1-0.

In the top of the second, the Captains were able to work four walks on Malouf and score three runs on one hit and one error.

TCNJ found the equalizer in the home half of the third, scoring two runs on two hits to knot the game at three runs each. A
Sebastian JnoBaptiste double to right-center field scored
Ryan Goodall and
Jack Felipe. Goodall led the inning off with a hit-by-pitch and advanced to third on a Jack Felip single to center.

In the top half of the fourth, Christopher Newport took the lead right back and added some to that, scoring six runs on four hits. Malouf handed over pitching duties to
Michael Silver with two outs in the third.

In the fifth, the Captains tacked on another two runs on two hits to bring their lead to 11-3 over TCNJ.

After a scoreless sixth, Christopher Newport put up another seven runs in the seventh on four hits, putting them ahead 18-3.

The Captains held the Lions scoreless for the eighth and ninth to advance to Sunday's Regional Final.

Goodall led the Lions at the plate for the day with two hits and a run scored.

TCNJ will now turn it right back around for a rematch with the Shenandoah Hornets at 8:45 PM. The winner will advance to play Christopher Newport on Sunday afternoon.
