Box Score WINCHESTER, VA.- The TCNJ baseball team saw their terrific season come to a close on Saturday night as they fell to No. 3 ranked Shenandoah by a score of 8-1.

Starter
John DiCostanzo (2-4) escaped a couple of jams early on, leaving five baserunners on for the Hornets while only allowing one run in the first four innings.

The Hornets finally got to DiCostanzo and scored first in the top half of the fourth on two hits to go ahead 1-0.

In the home half of the fifth, the Lions tied the game at one with a
Chris Reeder single to left field, scoring
Mike LaGravenis.

The Hornets answered right back, scoring five runs in the inning on five hits to go ahead 6-1 in the sixth as the Lions used two relievers to escape the jam.

For the last three and a third innings, junior
Joe Ferreri was great on the bump in relief. The right-hander allowed two runs on four hits and one walk. Three of the hits, the one walk and two runs came in the top of the ninth with a homer to left to bring the Hornet led to 8-1.

The Lions had opportunities to get back into the game but were not able to execute as they left 11 runners on-base throughout the course of the context.

Shenandoah held the Lions scoreless in the ninth to advance to Sunday's Regional Final against Christopher Newport.

Leading the Lions at the plate for the game was
Justin Marcario, as he went 3-for-5 and recorded his 70
th hit of the season in the bottom of the ninth. 70 hits for the season puts him tied for 17
th all time.

This marks the end to a historic season for the Lions, finishing the year with an even 24-24 record while capturing an NJAC title and advancing to Regionals for the first time since 2019.
