MIDDLETOWN. Ct. – The TCNJ women's tennis team concluded their 2022-23 season after falling to No. 33 Mary Washington, 0-5, in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday.
The Lions (16-5) were overpowered in doubles play by the Eagles (11-9) to quickly fall behind 0-3 in the match. TCNJ would fall 8-2 at No. 1 court, before losing 8-3 in both No. 2 and No. 3 courts.
Mary Washington officially clinched the match at No. 3 Singles to end the Lions' season.
Though unfinished, star senior
Charlotte Roarty won her first set, 6-4, at No. 1 Singles while sophomore
Aira Abalos put up a valiant effort in the first set of No. 2 singles as she was trailed 6-5 with a chance to force a tiebreaker when the match ended.

Anusha Rangu and junior
Chase Eisenberg saw competitive second sets at No. 4 and No. 5 Singles, respectively, as they aimed to force a third set tiebreaker in their matches.
TCNJ's 2023 season was a successful one that saw the Lions both clinch their 40th consecutive NJAC title while also winning their 16th straight first round matchup.
Roarty will keep her season alive by representing the Lions in the NCAA Singles Tournament starting May 19.
