Men's Soccer Takes Down PSU Abington

NEWARK, N.J. – The TCNJ men's soccer team claimed their second win in a row on Sunday afternoon with a 3-2 victory over Penn State Abington.

The Lions (2-3) picked up right where they left off on Saturday, scoring three goals in the first 20 minutes. Abington made it interesting with two goals in the second half, but the Lions were able to hold Abington right there and secure the 3-2 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Luke Pascarella got things going for TCNJ early with a goal in the ninth minute on an assist from Massimo Rodio.
  • Seven minutes later in the 16th, Chris Meder scored his third goal of the weekend to put the Lions ahead 2-0.
  • Daniel Grund added to the goal parade in the 20th minute with an absolute strike past the goalkeeper on an assist from Pascarella.
  • While the scoring may have stopped for the Lions, the defense held strong as Julian Franco's four saves proved to be the difference maker on Sunday afternoon.

NOTES:
  • Pascarella showed up in a big way today with his first points of the season on his goal and assist.
  • Meder has a very good chance of earning himself NJAC Rookie of the Week after his two goals on Saturday and one Sunday.
  • TCNJ has found some offensive momentum as they now have scored seven goals in the last 180 minutes of play.
  • Grund had a great weekend himself with a pair of goals, one in each game.
  • Meder was named MVP of the Brick City Classic Tournament. Joining him on the all tournament team is Grund, Pascarella and Sebastian Hernandez.
UP NEXT:
The Lions will be back on the pitch Wednesday at 7PM when they travel to Madison, N.J. to take on the Rangers of Drew University.
