Women's Soccer Scores Four Second-Half Goals in Shutout over Kean

EWING, N.J. – The No. 14 TCNJ women's soccer team handled Kean in their NJAC opener on the road behind a four-goal second-half explosion to seal a 5-0 victory on Wednesday night.

Emma Pascarella scored two second-half goals for TCNJ (6-1-1, 1-0), which netted an early goal and pulled away with a barrage of goals after intermission. The Lions racked up a remarkable 41 shots on the night while limiting the Cougars (2-6-1, 0-2) to just four shots in posting their third consecutive clean sheet.

 HOW IT HAPPENED

-       The Lions got out to an early start with a Lindsay O'Keefe goal on an assist from Victoria D'Imperio in the eighth minute.

-       TCNJ had many other chances in the first half with 15 more shots following the goal from D'Imperio but could not find the back of the net before half's end.

-       With all the opportunities, it was only a matter of time before the Lions extended. Twenty minutes into the second half, Emma Pascarella sent a left-footed strike off an Alyssa Alfano pass into the upper 90 to give the Lions a 2-0 lead.

-       True to their explosive nature, D'Imperio received a great corner from Rachel Burkhard and netted her seventh goal of the season 70 seconds after the Pascarella goal.

-       Pascarella kept it going as just two minutes after the D'Imperio goal, she delivered another shot from deep that got over the extended arms of the Kean goalie to extend the lead to 4-0.

-       Cassidy DiSabato closed out the scoring for the Lions in the 81st with her 3rd goal of the season coming off an assist from Jess DiMatteo

NOTES

-       D'Imperio's seven goals have her slotted at second in the NJAC. Her 16 points are third-best in the conference. This marks her third game in a row with a goal.

-       The two goals for Pascarella were her second and third of the year, bringing her point total to 11.

-       The 5-0 victory marks the second career solo shutout for Bella Norman, who had two saves on Wednesday night. The Lions have shut out six of their last seven opponents.

-       DiSabato has scored in back-to-back games.

-       Alfano, D'Imperio, and DiMatteo each registered their second assist of the year.

-       The Lions' 26.1 shots per game have them ranked in the top-5 nationally.

UP NEXT

-       The Lions are once again on the road this weekend as they head to Wayne on Saturday to face off against William Paterson at noon.
