EWING, N.J. – In the season opener, the TCNJ men's swimming and diving team came out with a 172-90 dual meet victory against Salisbury on Saturday afternoon.
Ryan Higgins,
Ryan VanDeVeen, and
Steven Bendoraitis each won a pair of individual events to pace the Lions to victory.
Both relay teams were also victorious, as was
Gavin Formon in a solo win to round out the TCNJ winners on the day.
GOLDEN RACES
- The Lions set the tone in the 200 Medley Relay to kick off the meet, as the relay team of Andrew Kidchob, VanDeVeen, Richard Park, and M.J. Hoban combined for a time of 1:32.48 for the victory.
- Formon took the 1000 free with a 9:50.58 time
- Bendoraitas won his first of two in the 200 free (9:50.58), and later took the 500 free with a time of 4:46.43
- VanDeVeen next took the 100 breast (57.39) before later winning the 200 breast with a 2:08.24 time
- Higgins won his first race in the 200 back (1:57.03) and rounded out the Lions' double-winners with a victory in the 200 IM (1:58.83)
- The blue and gold closed out the meet with a win in the 400 Free Relay, as the quartet of Bendoraitis, Park, Hoban and Joe McChesney clocked a relay time of 3:11.50
- Ethan Weiss logged regional qualifying scores in the 1-meter dive (346.05) and 3-meter dive (300.83), while Michael Wu did so in the 3-meter with a top score of 301.80)
