GLASSBORO, N.J. – The No. 10 TCNJ women's soccer team clinched the NJAC regular season title with a 1-0 win at Rowan on Wednesday.
With the victory, the Lions (15-0-2, 9-0) dropped the Profs from the ranks of the unbeaten and locked up the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage in the NJAC Championship Tournament. TCNJ will host the winner of the No. 4/No. 5 first-round game in an NJAC semifinal next Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
Ella Van Dine sent a shot from her left foot to the right side of the net after receiving a header from her right at the top of the box from
Alyssa Alfano in the 58th minute. Van Dine lost a battle for a header herself on the play but continued to the net, splitting a pair of defenders before Alfano directed the ball her way. The play started after
Rachel Robichaud intercepted a goal kick around midfield and advanced the ball near the box.
The Lions (15-0-2, 9-0) nearly went up by two goals after
Cassidy DiSabato hit the middle of the crossbar from the left side in the 63rd minute on a play that also started with an intercepted ball.
TCNJ's defense was solid in allowing the Profs (13-1-2, 8-1) just a single shot on net with
Ellen Williams earning the clean sheet with a low right save late in the first half.
