11/19/2024 11:57:00 AM

EWING, N.J. –  TCNJ student-athletes Mike Garofalo and Chris Meder were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, announced Tuesday afternoon by the organization.

The 2024 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.

A Criminology major with a 3.72 GPA, Garofalo served as team captain and started all 16 games in which he played during his senior campaign. The midfielder racked up a career-high 851 minutes of action, putting him well over 2,000 for his career. Garofalo is slated to become an NJAC All-Academic Team honoree for the third time.

A Finance major with a 3.50 GPA, Meder came back from an injury to start the final 16 games of the season and was one of the Lions' most effective offensive weapons, ranking second on the team in points (7) and tying for second with two goals. Over his first two years, Meder has made 33 starts and accrued seven goals and four assists.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.  For more information about CSC Academic All-District® and Academic All-America® Teams program, visit AcademicAllAmerica.com.
