CHAMPS AGAIN! Women's Tennis Extends NJAC Title Streak to 41

EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ women's tennis team extended the longest running conference title streak in the NCAA with a 5-0 sweep of Stockton in Saturday's NJAC championship match.

The top-seeded Lions needed just over an hour to dispatch the third-seeded Ospreys and collect their 41st consecutive NJAC crown, the longest run of conference titles for any NCAA division and in any sport. TCNJ once again claimed the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, which gets underway on Friday, May 10.

FOR THE RECORD
  • TCNJ is 16-2 overall, while Stockton ended its season with a 7-4 mark
DOUBLES
  • All three of TCNJ's doubles duos won their matches 8-1
  • Zoey Albert and Chase Eisenberg were first off the court against Sophia Pasquale and Kierstyn Fenimore – both All-NJAC selections – in the No. 1 flight
  • Prisha Priyadarshini and Gabriella Robinson were next with an 8-1 win over Rocio Lucero and Lauren Theophall at No. 3
  • Aira Abalos and Marcella Warner punctuated the doubles sweep with an 8-1 victory over Carlee Cristella and Jamie Theophall at No. 2
SINGLES
  • Like in Wednesday's semifinal win over Rutgers-Camden, Priyadarshini was one of the first two off the court at No. 4 singles, posting a 6-0, 6-0 double-bagel for the second straight outing
  • Albert, who was two points away from winning her singles match on Wednesday, got to the finish line this time and sealed the championship with a 6-0, 6-2 defeat of Fenimore at No. 2
  • Robinson was a game away (6-0, 5-0) from a win at No. 6 when Albert posted the deciding point
  • Abalos held a commanding 6-1, 2-0 lead at No. 1 against Pasquale, who took Abalos to a 10-8 super breaker in their regular-season meeting
  • Eisenberg (6-0, 3-2 over Cristella at No. 3) and Warner (6-1, 2-0 over Jamie Theophall at No. 5) were also comfortably ahead when rackets were dropped
