Kaci Neveling,
Julia Roessler, and
Gianna Vazquez were each recognized on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for their combined athletic and academic excellence.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 18.
An Early Childhood Education major with a 3.82 GPA, Kitchin started all but one game at first base this season, batting .234 with a pair of home runs and 14 RBIs. She produced four doubles and was fifth on the team with 17 runs scored.
A graduate student in school counseling and a CSC Academic All-American in 2023, Neveling has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA her entire academic career. She's been just as dominant on the field, earning her fourth career first-team all-region and first-team All-NJAC awards this season. Neveling batted .390 and led the Lions in both runs (45) and hits (48), ranking 27
th in Division III in runs per game.
Neveling's 41 stolen bases led the NJAC and rank 14
th in the nation, and she also ranked third in the NJAC with five triples. She was an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete each of the last three seasons.
A Biology major with a 3.97 GPA, Roessler pitched in nine games with four starts this season, going 4-0 with a 3.65 ERA. She was an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete in both 2022 and 2023.
A Criminology major with a 3.81 GPA, Vazquez started 31 games in the infield, batting .215 with six RBIs and stealing four bases. Her 15 runs scored tied for sixth on the team. Vazquez was an NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete in 2023.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
