PITMAN, N.J. – Four TCNJ softball student-athletes were selected for All-NJAC team honors, as revealed by the conference office Friday morning. Graduate student
Kaci Neveling received First Team honors, while the trio of sophomore
Elizabeth Gosse and seniors
Julia Mayernik and
Julia Kinnally took home Second Team honors.
The Lions quartet were the fourth-largest group of athletes selected onto the All-Conference teams, placing behind Rowan (seven) as well as Ramapo and Kean (each with five selections).
For the fourth-consecutive season, Neveling was selected onto the First Team after batting .411 (23-for-56) with two doubles, two triples and 10 RBIs for an OPS of .977 in conference play. The super senior was nearly perfect on the basepaths, stealing 22 total bases out of 23 attempts to lead the NJAC.
Gosse was named for Second Team honors after finishing conference play with a 6-3 record in nine starts, eight of which being complete games and two for shutouts. The reigning NJAC Rookie of the Year posted an impressive 0.86 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 56.2 Innings Pitched, while also striking out 36 batters and allowing opponents to hit just .197 in conference play.
Also making her fourth-consecutive All-NJAC team, Mayernik took home a Second Team nod after batting .260 (13-for-50) with five doubles, one home run and nine RBIs for an OPS of .776 in NJAC play. The senior catcher also picked off a pair of stolen base attempts behind the plate.
The reigning NJAC Player of the Year, Kinnally rounded out the group with a Second Team selection of her own after hitting .392 (20-for-51) with five doubles, one triple, one home run and 17 RBIs for an OPS of .963 in conference play. The senior was also a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts.
The Lions will continue their hunt for a second consecutive conference championship tomorrow with a road matchup against top-seeded Rowan in the second round of the NJAC Tournament. The first pitch is set for 3:30 PM.
