CSC Academic All-America Release

EWING, N.J. – TCNJ softball star Kaci Neveling added another glowing item to her remarkable student-athlete resume on Tuesday, earning a spot on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® First Team.

Neveling's selection for the prestigious honor places her in rarified air as only the sixth player in TCNJ softball history to collect multiple Academic All-America® awards; she joins Tracy Warren (1986-87), Erine Grove (1992-94), JoAnn Heckethorn (1992-94), Michelle Carlson (1994-95), and Sunny Montas (1995-97). Carlson, Neveling's mother and an assistant coach with the Lions, was the national Player of the Year in 1994 and 1995 and was named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for softball in 1995.

Neveling becomes the first Lion to be named to the First Team since Sam Platt in 2018.

A second-team honoree in 2023, Neveling was named to the Academic All-District Team for the second year in a row earlier this spring. Outstanding student-athletes are nominated for Academic All-District® recognition by communications directors and must have a minimum 3.50 GPA and meet high athletic standards.

A select group of student-athletes advances to the national ballot where CSC members vote on Academic All-America® teams. Neveling snagged one of the three outfield spots on the First Team and is the only player in the NJAC to be named an Academic All-American.

Sporting a perfect 4.0 GPA as a graduate student in school counseling, Neveling earned her fourth career first-team all-region and first-team All-NJAC awards this season. She batted .390 and led the Lions in both runs (45) and hits (48), ranking 27th in Division III in runs per game.

Soon to be a four-time NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete and NJAC All-Academic Team honoree, Neveling is a career .416 hitter with 205 hits, 161 runs, 95 stolen bases, and 73 RBIs during her illustrious tenure with TCNJ, which will continue with a final season in 2025.

The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Division III Academic All-America® program.
