EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ men's soccer team hung with visiting Stevens for over an hour but wound up short in a 2-0 non-conference setback on Saturday.
The Lions went toe to toe with the Ducks for the first half, holding the visitors to just four shots and two corners in the opening 45.
Colin Rentner made two terrific saves in the 26
th minute, tipping away a corner that was bound for the upper corner before stoning a follow-up header.
Stevens broke the stalemate in the 63
rd minute when Terry Thompson ripped a shot into the back of the net off a loose ball in the box, and the Ducks tacked on an insurance tally with a penalty kick in the 77
th minute.
TCNJ went close a few times after that, the first when
Sam Snyder nailed a rising header off the right post, and
Pablo Argueta forced a pair of difficult saves on hard shots in the closing minutes.

- The game was nearly a dead heat statistically, with Stevens edging out TCNJ in shots, 9-8, and the Lions holding a slim 5-4 lead in corners
